Anniversary Trip-One Alpacka For Fun

Just one paddle, one pole and one Alpacka for fun.

A wedding anniversary trip to remember and a great celebratory poem to boot.

How does a packraft and fishing trip sound for a wedding anniversary celebration? Gabe and Lisa Rovick recently celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in their backcountry with “just one paddle, one pole and one Alpacka for fun.”

They grabbed their Alpacka Classic and headed out to a remote high country lake in Colorado to enjoy a quick overnight trip to celebrate.

Prior to leaving Gabe’s dad, Jon Rovick, gave them a celebratory gift in the form of a poem. And it mentions Alpacka Raft, so of course we had to share it with you.

A poem by Jon Rovick

Two hearts beat like one
No other camper can make it undone
The comet will lead them to the right one
Just one paddle, one pole and one Alpacka for fun

Two hearts follow the setting sun
The only spot is the only one
The comet comes on the back of the sun
Just one paddle, one pole and one Alpacka for fun

Two hearts seek the jumping one
The camp is the one that comes with the cutthroat and her son
The comet watches with its own desire for fun
Just one paddle, one pole and one Alpacka for fun

Two hearts float in a reflection of one
The only place to see it come upon
The comet shows them a ton
Just one paddle, one pole and one Alpacka for fun

Two hearts drift back like one
The soft path guides them on a run
The comet looks back with an up thumb
Just one paddle, one pole and one Alpacka for fun

The Anniversary Trip

True to the words in the poem, this trip included “Just one paddle, one pole and one Alpacka for fun”.

The hike in was seven miles to the lake (14 miles round trip), at approximately 11,400 ft in elevation. On the rarely visited, remote lake, Gabe and Lisa caught close to 15 fish between the two of them.

To make the trip even more perfect, they were also lucky enough to see the Neowise Comet in the clear sky on the night they were out.

Need a trip idea for your next anniversary? Take one out of Gabe and Lisa’s book. They had a great time and perfect 5 year celebration.
