Product Description
The Forager is light enough to backpack for two. Want to load it up? The Forager’s XL Cargo Fly will take hundreds of pounds of cargo and keep it safe and dry while improving stability and handling.
If you are looking for a multi person packraft that can handle everything from a classic western river trip, to fly in trips to the remote areas of Alaska, to self-supported big game hunting, to backcountry drift boat fishing, to worldwide travel, the Forager has all your bases covered.
The Forager can be paddled either by kayak style paddle from the stern or sitting inside on the single seat configuration, or with two canoe style paddles with two adults using the tandem seating configuration or sitting down in the boat in bigger water.
In single paddler kayak mode, you can load up the front with the family, pets, or extra gear on a backcountry hunt. In two paddler R2 mode, experienced paddlers can take on classics like the Grand Canyon and Middle Fork of the Salmon. We recommend the Aqua Bound Shred Apart paddle with the Forager.
Three different configurations are available including a solo seating configuration, tandem seating configuration, or the based configuration. Note that there is not enough room to use both the solo seat and tandem seat at the same time.
Recommended Uses
Family: Dogs & Kids
The Forager is our most popular family packraft for the whole crew. From dogs to kids, the Forager can fit the whole family. We love having one paddler sitting on the stern and another on the passenger seat with a kid in front and dog behind the passenger, or remove the passenger seat and have the adult face back with the kid and dog in the middle between paddlers. If you only have one adult, get the Solo Configuration which provides a great paddling position for the parent and plenty of space for the kids and dogs. Great for flatwater and lightwater adventures.
Hunting
The Forager is the ultimate hunting packraft for big game with plenty of room for deer, elk, caribou and sheep sized game. Its also the only packraft in our lineup which can reasonably transport a moose in a single load. Also a great setup with a dog and decoys for waterfowl hunting. We recommend the Solo Configuration for hunting.
Fishing
The Forager is a great mini-drift boat style fishing craft, especially on lightwater or occasional whitewater. The stern person paddles while the front person fishes off the bow. We recommend the tandem configuration for fishing with two adults and the solo configuration for fishing with one adult. However, we prefer the seating position of the Rendezvous for flatwater with occasional lightwater.
Flatwater
The Forager is our best multi-person flatwater packraft when you want to pack along the whole family plus gear. The Rendezvous is more comfortable for two adults on longer trips. But the Forager can handle the widest range of passengers and gear.
Lightwater
Similar to flatwater, the Forager is the best tandem packraft we have for family lightwater trips. The self-bailing floor will quickly drain out any waves that come over the side. It can also be paddled either by a single paddler in the stern with a kayak paddle or two paddlers with canoe paddles.
Whitewater
The Forager is our only multi-person packraft suitable for whitewater. With two experienced paddlers using the Aqua Bound Shred Apart in canoe mode, a loaded Forager is great fun in both smaller rivers and big water up to Class III/IV.
How Does it Compare?
Forager vs. Rendezvous
The Forager, Rendezvous are best separated by purpose. The Forger offers the versatility of being family friendly, whitewater capable, and the best model for hunting. The Rendezvous is the best for fishing and provides extra comfortable seating for flatwater trips for two adults.
Forager vs Custom Ranger
The Forager and Ranger are scaled versions of the same design. The Forager is larger, offering greater ability to carry two adults or multiple kids and pets. The custom Ranger is lighter, more maneuverable, and more maneuverable making it the choice if you are a smaller adult or plan to do more backpacking with the boat. For all other uses, the Forager has more capacity and more versatility while offering the same seating system.

Build Configurations
Self Bailing

The Forager is available only in a self bailing configuration.
Solo Seating Configuration

The solo seating configuration includes the Ranger lace-in seat.
Tandem Seating Configuration

The tandem seating configuration includes the Forager Passenger seat.
Cargo Fly Zipper
Our innovative Cargo Fly internal storage system comes standard on the Forager. The Cargo Fly features an airtight zipper installed in the stern of the boat to allow you to store your gear inside the tubes. The system provides drier and more secure gear storage and improved paddling performance due to a lower center of gravity.
Internal Dry Bags may be purchased separately and are designed to work with the Cargo Fly system. The bags slip inside the Cargo Fly zipper and can be organized along the inside of the tubes to balance the load. The Forager has internal attachments to clip the dry bags in place. The XL Internal Dry Bags are sized to fit with the Forager hull size, but the Roll-Top and Zippered Dry Bags will work as well. We recommend 1-2 sets of bags for the Forager.
Weight Capacity
The Forager is our highest capacity packraft. The following capacities are general guidelines based on our experience and performance goals:
- Passengers. Up to 300lbs for single paddler or 500lbs combined weight with additional persons or pets.
- Cargo. Optimum performance with up to 200lbs balanced load in the Cargo Fly and two paddlers. Up to 400lbs depending on conditions and paddler experience.
- Hunting. Hunter plus 100lbs of personal gear and 400lbs animal weight, more weight possible depending on conditions.
- Max. 1,000lbs on flatwater under ideal conditions.
